As seen in Elle March (UK).
Loving the new Chanel adverts, so simple, classic and beautifully crisp. It's always nice to see a company embracing the minimal rather than trying to visually punch you in the face. They have only used a handful of colours and have really brought the product to the front in a really subtle way. Kudos.
It looks like sex really is the selling point for this year's key advertisements. Calvin Klein, fresh from their racy Eva Mendes starring promos has semi-released their new videos - which basically revolve around a group of models writhing all over each other dressed only in, you guessed it, Calvin Klein jeans.
As WWD.com says:
"Steven Meisel shot the new Jeans commercial, which has a grainy quality and looks like it was produced in an old basement, with male and female models — including Anna Selezneva, Anna Jagodzinska and Natasha Poly — who aren’t wearing much more than their Calvins and are writhing around all over each other. The 15- and 30-second spots will initially be exclusive online at calvinkleinjeans.com, the home of the brand’s future U.S. e-commerce site, beginning Friday. The commercial will be the site’s main attraction until the completed site launches in the summer."
Sexy ads aside is is nice to see a brand going with ballsy advertising and not caring if it gets on the air or not. Viral and website based videos are definitely the way of the future so..er...way to go Calvin Klein!
Check out the video for yourself, here.
From The Cut:
"Yves Saint Laurent's fall 2009 men's show in Paris this week opened with a short film directed by photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. It consists of only a full-frame shot of Michael Pitt's face as he listens to an unseen woman talk to him erotically about clothes."
Can I get a "Yes please!" ? This is SFW but I bet you any money you'll blush. The combination of the words (spoken in French with subtitles in English of course) and the imagery is just killer.
You may remember Mr Pitt from such films as The Dreamers (which also featured one of my favorite actresses, Eva Green) and Gus Van Sant's Kurt Cobain inspired bio flick Last Days. Or even Hedwig and the Angry Inch. He's a completely brilliant actor who I think is often overlooked...he's also gorgeous but I didn't think that needed to be said. :P
